Community Admin Messages

Admins are emails you send out to your whole community, either in response to a problem that's arisen or maybe because you have some good news, ie: to announce a membership milestone or to announce your plans to be doing a stall at the local green fair etc.

From January 2025, Admins can be sent out in two different formats- Essential or Newsletter. This distinction was brought in because a lot of members objected to receiving non-essential information - https://discourse.ilovefreegle.org/t/admins-and-newsletters/8178 explains.

Here are a selection of standard Admins for your perusal. Feel free to use them as they are or adapt them to your needs.

'Issues'

These can be sent in response to Freegle issues that commonly arise.

• Animals (no Offer or Wanted messages)
• Be nice: Reminder to members to Be Nice
• Autoresponders
• Collecting Offers: Reminder about arranging safe collection of items
• Copyright
• Crossposting
• Fair offer policy
• Fundraising – appeal for funding
• Inappropriate Messages: Admin after an inappropriate message has been posted
• Keep it Local
• Keep Safe – Reminder about personal safety
• Multiple posts
• No-shows
• Reselling: 4 messages about selling items
• Sample Admin: Sob stories
• Too many emails: Explain to members how to change their email settings
• Too many wanteds
• Virus warnings
• Vouchers
• Woodburning stoves – with particular reference to not using furniture that could still be used
• Zero Tolerance

Auto Admins

There is a bank of automatic Admins that will appear in your Admin setting on Modtools occasionally, which are suggestions for an Admin to be sent out to members to encourage more freegling. These are centrally generated and give you the opportunity to edit, post them out or not.
