The list below is just for the groups that are currently centrally owned and need new owners and mods. If any mod teams local to any of these groups would like to take any of these groups on as permanent new owners, please contact us. We have had one group removed from the caretaker list. Tamworth is now under new ownership. We have also had two new group added to the list.  Eastwood Freegle and Sky and Lochalsh Freegle groups have been handed over to mentors and so the list is still a little longer with 41 groups in total.

Report for Freegle Mentors

September/October 2015

The mentor team is a team of 16 moderators, although very few, are currently actively taking on more groups. Several of the mentor team have already taken on as many groups as they can cope with.

Mentors help new Group Owners to find their feet and we help struggling groups. We also care for groups that have been given up by their owners.

Mentors are available for holiday cover so that groups don't need to be left unattended while the owner is away, so anyone planning a holiday who has no mods to run the group, please do let us help rather than leave your group unmoderated while you are away.

The mentor team has increased by one member. Amanda has joined us and has already taken on a couple of caretaker groups. Amanda is relatively new to Freegle although she is an experienced Freecycle moderator so we welcome her help and she is already a valued member of the team.

The basic rules we were creating for all caretaker groups to use have just gone back to Development and we hope to get them approved soon.

The mentor team is still looking for new mods to help out. if anyone thinks they may be able to mentor a new group owner or caretake a group that has been handed over for Freegle to run centrally, please contact us at mentors@ilovefreegle.org

All Caretaker groups are added to Modtools. It only takes a few minutes extra each time you moderate to clear the messages on extra groups. We really do need more volunteers.

If you know of any group that is being left unmoderated for long periods, please contact mentors in strictest confidence. We would rather help out and get things back on track before a group ends up being abandoned.
