Mentors Team Report 2015 12
Report for Freegle Mentors
The mentor team is a team of 16 moderators.
Mentors help new Group Owners to find their feet and we help struggling groups. We also care for groups that have been given up by their owners and we contact groups that are not being actively moderated to offer help.
The basic rules to be used on all centrally run caretaker groups were approved on Development and are now in use on our caretaker groups so all centrally run groups are moderated the same way.
The last few weeks mentors have been working on creating a caretaker configuration so we will all be sending the same emails most of the time.
The Development group have discussed and agreed new guidelines that we now follow when handing over caretaker groups to neighbouring mod teams. You can read about the new handover procedure at Caretaker Groups
The list below is just for the groups that are currently centrally owned and need new owners and mods. If any mod teams local to any of these groups would like to take any of these groups on as permanent new owners, please contact us.
We have had five groups removed from the caretaker list, after being taken on by neighbouring mod teams. We have also had seven new groups added to the list, so it is a little longer again this month.
- Barking and Dagenham
- Blackwater and Yateley
- Brewood, Codsall and Stretton Freegle
- Cannock Freegle
- Cheslyn Hay Freeworld recycling
- Dudley – Black country Freeworld
- Lichfield Freeworld Recycling
- Llyn Peninsula
- North Warwickshire
- Penkridge Freeworld recycling
- Sky and Lochalsh
- Windsor and Maidenhead
The list below is of those who just need a little help or are just being cared for temporarily.
- Amber Valley
- Bangor - remove from list as Ruth taking care
- Kensington and Chelsea
- Leamington and Warwick
- New Forest West
There are two groups that currently have a mentor on board. (which is compulsory support for new groups.)
We have also contacted several inactive groups and are trying to make contact with the owners so that we can offer some help to get the groups going again.
The mentor team is still looking for new mods to help out. if anyone thinks they may be able to mentor a new group owner or caretake a group that has been handed over for Freegle to run centrally, please contact us at email@example.com . All Caretaker groups are added to modtools. It takes a few minutes extra each time you moderate to clear the messages on extra groups. We really do need more volunteers.
If you know of any group that is being left unmoderated for long periods, mentors can be contacted in strictest confidence. We would rather help out and get things back on track before a group ends up being abandoned.
