XXXX Freegle is an online group for locals to give away and get things for free. As long as whatever item you're giving away or asking for is legal, it'll be allowed on the group's listings. The XXXX group was started in MONTH/YEAR and has been flourishing for the past X months, as part of a UK-wide network of Freegle groups. There are NUMBER local members in YOUR AREA already - all busy giving away and getting stuff for free.

Freegle is a massive grassroots initiative leading environmentally positive individual action across the UK. XXXX Freegle is part of a very popular modern activity: making good use of things we already have, by making sure that stuff isn't unnecessarily dumped at the tip or left lying around unused. You'd be amazed at what you can get rid of, and what you can get. The amount of goods we ensure are reused rather than thrown away is growing every day. It's really easy to be part of XXXX Freegle: you'll need access to a computer or phone and an email address. Upon joining the group, you'll receive easy instructions on how everything works and what to do. MOD'S NAME from WHERE... is your local group owner, and is a helpful and experienced Freegler who'll help you get started if you're new to it. Don't be shy - join up, it really is easy and fun.


One person’s trash can now become another person’s treasure in Enfield following the local launch of an ingenious recycling scheme called Freegle.
Freegle groups also foster community spirit, lessen consumerism, help the economically challenged, reduce the burden on local councils' resources, and encourage a more sustainable lifestyle - all done locally, by locals, and all done for free! So by joining the XXXX Freegle group, you may even meet neighbours and discover positive initiatives going on in your area along the way.


The Enfield Freegle group is open to anyone who wants to ‘recycle’ items they no longer need, rather than throw them away.
Whether you're an individual, a family, old or young, a local organisation, sports club, charity, rich or poor, or a business, you can benefit from joining and start to offer any unwanted items you have to other members of the XXXX group. Other members will get in touch if they're interested in the item you offer, and arrange to collect it from you. If there's something you're looking for, you can ask for that too - someone just may have what you need, and no longer want it themselves.


Freegle is made up of local groups, run by volunteers, which offers an online board where members can post ‘offers of items’ or ‘wants for items’. The rules are simple: items must be freely given, legal, and keep something out of a landfill tip.  
Whether it's a TV, empty moving boxes, clothing, sports equipment, DIY materials, a household full of furniture, toys, books, some dishwasher tablets, office equipment, fresh squid or an old WWII shelter, it's possible to give it away or get it for free via XXXX Freegle, instead of it going to waste at the tip or languishing unused.


Whether it’s a Karaoke machine, chair, piano or an old door, you can offer it to members of the group.  Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself – like a new kitchen sink.
Freegle members can save money, time, energy and the planet - all at the same time!


Alexander Rainbow, who started the Enfield group said: “Freegle is a great idea and I firmly believe in recycling, so I volunteered to start a group because there wasn’t one in this area. Already we’ve got 180 members since we started last month and numbers go up every day. Everyone in the area is welcome to join, including non profit groups like school and charities.”

Alexander added: “We’ve had all manner of things looking for a new home including the Karaoke machine, a chain saw, and a computer; everyone has unwanted goods lying around like children’s toys and old hobby equipment, and it is very satisfying to pass something on to someone who needs it.

Freegle was started in Tuscon, Arizona in 2003 by Deron Beal, who was concerned about desert landscapes being used for landfill.  What began as local e-mail group and has spread to 79 countries.
