Group Promotion Volunteers

It's ideal to have at least two volunteers in each group willing to take on the work of promoting it, since the work ranges from very regular social media contact to occasional PR events. Of course, this work can be shared with volunteers who also do other jobs for the group, such as moderating. The role specs below describe the range of promotional skills and work that would be great to have in each group - it's up to you how much of this you ask someone to do.

Group Media Volunteer

  • Helpful and friendly.
  • Committed to freegling and reuse.

  • Good communicator.

Time commitment

Difficult to state - some of the work needs almost daily input, while other parts are time-limited (for example, events).

  • Compile a list of media contacts.

Dependent on how much promotion is generated - but not less than one hour a week, with flexibility to increase that when events and promotions demand it.

Support and procedures

Alongside working with your group's moderating team, there are national opportunities to share experiences, ask questions and get support.

And of course, this wiki's Publicity handbook provides relevant information for a whole range of promotion ideas.
