Christmas is coming, and it's time to get the decorations down from the loft, check through the cutlery and crockery, and plan where Auntie Agnes is going to sleep this year. When you're up in the loft, if you find things you don't need any more, rather than just shoving them back up a box, why not offer them to someone else on Freegle?

After Christmas, if there are things that you've replaced, or even Christmas gifts that just don't quite hit the spot, please do offer them on Freegle rather than send them to the tip - they just might brighten up someone's New Year!

These are example admin messages you could send out in early December.

The first needs some extra data specific to your community - or you can just delete those sentences. The second was proposed nationally in 2023. The third is an adaptation for an inner-city setting, where many residents may not celebrate Christmas, most people live in flats without lofts, and overcrowding is more likely than a spare room.

ADMIN: What I really want for Christmas

Dear all,

You're receiving this message because you're a member of $groupname.

Christmas is coming, and it's time to get the decorations down from the loft, check through the cutlery and crockery, and work out where Auntie Agnes is going to sleep this year. While you're up in the loft, if you find things you don't need any more, rather than shoving them back in a box, why not offer them to someone else on Freegle?

After Christmas, if there are things you've replaced, or gifts that just don't hit the spot, please offer them on Freegle rather than take them to the tip - they might brighten up someone's New Year.

Thanks for supporting xxxx Freegle through 20xx - we've come a long way from the x messages posted in our first month back in 20xx. The board now regularly sees xxxx messages a month, and by our estimates we've kept nearly xxxx kg out of landfill in the last month alone (equivalent to xxx grandfather clocks).

We have over xxxx members - but that still leaves over xxxx people in xxxx who haven't started freegling yet, so please spread the word. You can use the invite button on Freegle Direct to invite friends and family, with an option to link them to their local community if they don't live nearby.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a great freegling New Year,

Example 2

Celebrations are coming, and it's time to get the decorations down from the loft, check through the cutlery and crockery, make space in the fridge and freezer, and work out where Aunt Agatha and her cat are going to sleep this year.

While you're up in the loft, if you find things you don't need any more, don't put them back in a box and store them away again - offer them to someone else on Freegle.

If you're clearing the spare room for guests, freegle some of the stuff that's lurked there unused for the past year (or years).

Any unwanted toys? Other children would really appreciate them.

After the holiday, if there are things you've replaced, or gifts that just don't hit the spot, please offer them to others rather than taking them to the tip or storing them away "just in case".

Spare food you've bought but is still in date? Others would probably love to have it.

Any of the above could brighten up someone else's holiday and New Year!

Happy holidays, and thanks for all your support through the year. Your community, the environment and all of us at Freegle are glad you care.
