Occasionally a member gets upset and accuses us of sending spam. Here's the position we take.


This is the position we take on this:
When a member signs up and logs in to our website, they see "Terms of Use Apply" under the sign-in options. Our [https://www.ilovefreegle.org/terms Terms] say we'll email members posts, replies, events and newsletters, and that they can control this in Settings.


When a member signs up to and into our website, they will see 'Terms of Use Apply' under the sign in options. The terms at https://www.ilovefreegle.org/terms say:
When a new member signs up, they get a "Thanks for joining Freegle" email, which includes "You can change your settings by clicking here", linking to their Settings tab on the website.

Every email Freegle sends includes an unsubscribe link, letting the member stop any particular type of email they don't want, except essential [[Admins|admin mails]]. Members can't opt out of admin mails that local volunteers classify as "essential" rather than "newsletter".

Yahoo also has its own Terms https://policies.yahoo.com/us/en/yahoo/terms/utos/index.htm which cover the ability to send people signing up to Yahoo services emails.
 
 
On each of the mails Freegle or Yahoo sends to the member, they will also see an unsubscribe link, which allows the option to stop any particular type of email they don't wish to receive.
