These are default messages used by caretaker groups, and are therefore recommended sample messages that you could use to send to a member.

I am sorry but I have edited your post today to remove the offer to pay for the item. I am afraid we don't allow selling at all on Freegle. It is a basic rule that all items offered must be given free with no strings attached.

Swapping

Dear Freegle Member,

I'm sorry I can't approve your message on Freegle today. I know that 'swapping' an item often seems like a good, environmentally friendly idea, but Freegle is just for giving things away free to keep them from ending up in landfill not for swaps, lends or borrows. You could of course place a simple wanted/request post for the item you need.

If you would like to reword your post as a straight offer, you are welcome to repost it.

I'm sorry I have had to remove reference to swapping in your message on Freegle today and left it as an outright Wanted request.

I know that 'swapping' an item often seems like a good, environmentally friendly idea - but the group rules state there should be no strings attached to any item offered which includes swapping. Freegle is for offering outright ownership only.
