Set up a Twitter page

Go to https://twitter.com/

Use the email of groupname-volunteers@groups.ilovefreegle.org (We use owner emails so the group is easy for any mods to recover if necessary just by sending a password reset to the group email.)

Create a password and click Get Started

Full name add groupname Freegle

Click sign up.

Add a phone number or just skip this step

Userid is groupname-Freegle. You are limited to a few letters so you may need to shorten the group name for instance Stevenage is stev_Freegle. This is going to be the name that people use to send you messages directly, it shows on your page as @groupname-freegle so shortening the group area name for the userid will not mean people can’t find you, they will find you using the name you first added in the full name box. Which is why you use the group name.

Select next, then click ‘Lets go’

What are you interested in page

Select News

Under ‘looking for Even More’, type recycling. Select a couple of the suggestions that show. Type in area name and select any of the suggestions that are of interest. Then select continue

Import outlook contacts – select no thanks Click follow and continue Select if you want notifications and continue.

The page is set up.

Select Skip all Click the camera icon at the top left of the page and add a group logo

Introduce yourself (under the profile picture) - add a little about Freegle and click save

Skip birthday details Add location and save

Click on the little profile picture top right of the page and select profile from the drop down menu. Select edit profile

Add a header picture – upload a photo of the area or a Freegle background and logo

Add the web address for the group http://freegle.in/groupname in the website box Choose a theme colour. That will change the colour of text and save boxes. Save the changes

Go to the email that is linked to the group owner email and you should have an email from twitter to confirm email. Click the link. The group is then set up

To link to modtools

Stay logged in to the Twitter group you want to link. Go to modtools settings > group settings Scroll down and click the link to Twitter box. Click Authorize app then close the page. The twitter page is linked.
