Sample message: Fair Chance policy
Some groups send out this ‘Fair Chance Policy Advice’ email to Offerers, particularly new members, and often get thanks for the helpful advice.

Dear Freegle Member,
Thank you for your offer post on $groupname.
Your item may generate a lot of responses. We recommend the following to avoid being caught out by ‘Auto-Responders’ or ‘No-Shows’:
Try not to offer your item to the first person to reply as they may be an ‘auto-responder’ or have replied hastily without thinking about if they really want the item or if & how they can collect.
We do encourage members to use our ‘Fair Chance Policy’* to allow members who do not have continual access to the internet to have the same chance as those with the fastest finger and ‘Auto-responders’. This also helps to reduce the likelihood of ‘no-shows’.
We do recommend waiting at least until the “What’s New” digest has been sent out before choosing who to give to (this also stops people complaining to the Moderators that they haven’t been given a chance).
Check out the profiles of those who reply to see if they have any ‘thumbs-ups’ or ‘thumbs-downs’.
Please remember to keep all replies until the items are collected as we ask members to wait a few days before re-advertising any items not taken. Always remember to check your spam bin/bulk mail folder as freegle emails often end up in there.
- ‘Fair Chance Policy: I’ll wait before choosing a recipient to give more people a chance to reply.’
Kind Regards,
