In the UK, using sticky mousetraps or other glue traps is illegal for the general public as of July 2024, following the introduction of the Glue Traps (Offences) Act 2022. It is illegal to offer or request them on Freegle.

Professional pest controllers can apply for a license to use glue traps in exceptional circumstances, but the public cannot buy or use them legally.

The law aims to protect animal welfare and prevent unnecessary suffering, as glue traps can cause prolonged suffering to trapped animals.
