General maintenance, and Geek stuff is mostly quiet.
Changing over the servers in ongoing albeit slowly, because of work commitments and holidays.
1. Freegle Direct
Mapping
Google changes to their app has caused some problems with the main mapping. It is also harder to see the location in relation to other groups. Please report it if you see any anomalies. I am finding some postcodes being used weirdly, you need to remap them and save, if you get any showing further out than expected.
Admin Rights to delete posts and events on Direct.
This was brought up again, as some mods haven’t yet been able to get find them.
First you need to have a Facebook account attached to the group. Then you need to log into Direct (not Facebook) using the Facebook button. You need to be an admin on the groups page with the same email address that is connected to the Facebook log in.
Events can also be deleted by retaining the original verification mail and clicking on the refusal.
Logging in.
Some signing in via the Google button were getting 414 logging errors. Logging out of Google and back may work if you get a report from a member although clearing the cache too will be better..
Snaply
This continues to be taken up by groups with no problems reported. We are still waiting for an app which will work with Android phones this will be available for testing shortly If you have an Android device and would like to help then join the group and let us know. For you group to be able to accept members using Snaply you need to opt your group in on the DIrect settings. Don't know how? Just send me a mail at jean.quinn @ gmail.com
We have received no objections, to last months proposal that we mail groups owners if someone near them wishes to use it. We may implement it when Andrew has time to set it up.

Message Maker
Something has prevented the photo option on some groups from being accessible. These seem to be those only recently having it. Chris has fixed those reported to us, but if you have a problem with yours please first check you allow attachments and then us know.
5. Questions raised and answered.
Q. A query arose on the problem of getting continuous requests to add the same FD memberships to the Yahoo list which are already on.
A. If they have only been recently added then ignore. If you get them again, then delete the ones which are on and replace them with invites to those sent. For some reason the mails going from Yahoo to the app which lets it know they have been accepted have probably gone astray or failed to be sent.
Q. We were asked by a moderator if they should click on those emails they get a third party on behalf of a member, whose purpose is to verify they are not a scammer before their messages being forwarded.
A. It is really an individual decision, but bear in mind that anyone replying to a post or email from them will also be asked and probably not want to do this. Also any automatic messages sent from other email accounts like the posts Direct or Support will not get through.
