Freegle App
The Freegle Mobile phone app provides access to Freegle communities on Android and Apple iOS phones and tablet devices.
Current Versions: The current versions of apps are noted on the Dashboard of Modtools.

Notes:
On 13.9.22, Google Play Store said that the Freegle app on Android has 29,223 installs and ModTools 131 installs. There isn’t comparable info for iOS, though there are various stats available, eg almost 24,000 downloads of the Freegle app in the last year.
On 29.11.22, Google Play Store for the apps on Android was showing 100k+ downloads and ModTools 100+.

ModTools app
There is also a ModTools app for Freegle volunteers. The latest version of the Modtools app is noted on Modtools Dashboard.

Users can find the app by searching for Freegle in their app store. These links are also available:
Features
The Freegle app uses the same code as the main Freegle website and so generally has the same functionality and look-and-feel as the main website when used on a mobile device.
Where needed, the app has changed or additional functionality for phone use, such as:
- Receiving notifications
- Log in within app, including Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Sign in with Apple on iOS
- Share posts using other phone apps
- Direct access to take photos
- Opens website links within the app
- Save handover events to calendar

The original development of the app was part funded by Cumbria County Council, the Sustain Eden project and funds donated to Freegle, 2014.
Chris Cant developed the apps for Modtools and the website, and continued to maintain them until September 2025.
