Tweets and Facebook Messages

This page has some ideas for tweets and messages to promote Freegle.

Freegle has a national X/twitter account, @ThisIsFreegle /https://twitter.com/thisisfreegle If people follow this page, they will get tweets generated centrally. We tweet every day, sometimes little funny things, sometimes links, news or little prompts to get people thinking about reuse and recycling. Local freegle group twitter-ers can of course 'retweet' these national tweets-which helps promote Freegle to new people.

Tweets have a restriction of a maximum of 280 characters (including spaces and punctuation). You can also include up to 4 types of photos, a GIF, or a video (and up to 4 total media items, e.g. 2 photos, 1 GIF, and 1 video) in your post. They can of course be less than that. If you don't want to lose a chunk of your tweet when it's retweeted you need to start with 280 characters less the number of characters in your tweet name less 5. This character count tool is handy for when you need to shorten a tweet http://charactercounttool.com/ .

On this Facebook page we show some ‘Trending’ posts as examples of the things that people have been giving and receiving on Freegle. If you see an item that takes your fancy, please don’t ask for it on here, but instead follow the link to the Freegle page and ask the person that made the Offer. You may find that it's already been taken… so please register on Freegle to receive offers promptly!
