Dear $memberid,

Can I check whether you're planning to sell on or make a profit from this item?

Whilst there are no rules saying that you can't resell items, you must tell the person you got the item(s) from, of your intention to do so.

If you are found to be selling items and you haven't informed the member, you are at risk of prosecution by the Police for obtaining goods by deception.
Or a much more severe one for really exceptional circumstances:

The group moderators are duty-bound to co-operate with requests for information from the Police, Inland Revenue, DWP and/or other Government officials.
Dear Member

This information could include, but isn't limited to, Group Management logs, Message Archives and emails.
The volunteers of this community have evidence that you're obtaining items from members and reselling them. While there's no rule against reselling items, you must tell the person you got the item(s) from of your intention to do so.

Any relevant information can and will be, used as evidence.  For example, to support a case of Benefit fraud, brought by the DWP.
If you're found to be selling items without informing the member, you're at risk of prosecution by the police for offences under the Fraud Act 2006.

So if you are unemployed and selling items for profit, you can be prosecuted for Benefit fraud. The Inland Revenue can also prosecute for Tax fraud, if you haven't paid tax on earnings gained from any items.
The volunteer team will cooperate with requests for information from the police in connection with any offences you may have committed. This information could include, but isn't limited to, management logs, message archives and emails.

Please consider this email your first warning.  The moderators will not hesitate to remove you from the group and pass your details on to the relevant people, should a second warning be necessary.
Please also note that if you're unemployed and reselling items obtained through Freegle for profit, without informing the DWP, you could potentially be prosecuted for benefit fraud. HMRC can also prosecute for tax evasion if you fail to pay tax on earnings from the sale of any items.

Regards
Please consider this your first warning. If this continues, the volunteers will remove you from the community, and your details may be passed on to the relevant authorities. Any official request to disclose a member's details will be complied with.
Your Group Moderation Team.

Dear $memberid,

Or a much more severe one for really exceptional circumstances:

Dear Member

The volunteers of this community have evidence that you're obtaining items from members and reselling them. While there's no rule against reselling items, you must tell the person you got the item(s) from of your intention to do so.

If you're found to be selling items without informing the member, you're at risk of prosecution by the police for offences under the Fraud Act 2006.

The volunteer team will cooperate with requests for information from the police in connection with any offences you may have committed. This information could include, but isn't limited to, management logs, message archives and emails.

Please also note that if you're unemployed and reselling items obtained through Freegle for profit, without informing the DWP, you could potentially be prosecuted for benefit fraud. HMRC can also prosecute for tax evasion if you fail to pay tax on earnings from the sale of any items.

Please consider this your first warning. If this continues, the volunteers will remove you from the community, and your details may be passed on to the relevant authorities. Any official request to disclose a member's details will be complied with.
