- Raising funds for Freegle
Our members have been extremely generous over the years - many people have filled their homes with things they couldn't otherwise have afforded. We'd like to be here for many more years, but times are tough. Like many charities and other organisations, Freegle is struggling for funds. Most of the work is done free by hundreds of volunteers, and even our directors work unpaid, but we do have some unavoidable costs, especially for IT, and we're fast running short of cash. We have a brilliant deal with our hosting company, with the cost covered by specific gifts - but we also need funds for the IT skills to keep our software running and evolving, the time to keep Freegle in the public eye, and our work encouraging councils to take reuse seriously.
We know people are struggling right now, and we understand not everyone is in a position to help with a donation. But we have no choice but to ask our members for help if you can give a little. Freegle is needed more than ever because of the cost of living crisis, with so many people unable to afford essentials - clothes, shoes, baby equipment and more. These are exactly the essentials that kind freeglers can and do help with. If you can help us help them, and keep Freegle going with a small donation, we'd really appreciate every penny. Ongoing monthly donations are especially helpful.
