These guidelines were adopted by the Board on 6th January 2015.
After holding elections for a few years, these timings have been proven as a sensible timetable:
- 7 days for nominations
- 3 days for statements
- 6 days for Q&A
- 10 days for voting
- 4 days to declare results
These are minimum periods and with no overlaps. The Returning Officer will decide if the periods need to be stretched depending on circumstances.
If the number of candidates warrant further rounds of voting, or there is a tie, the timings above will be taken as an indicator for the Returning Officer to set a further timetable.
