Try setting your group membership to 'Daily Digest' and get one or two (long) emails a day containing several messages each. Or 'Special notices' which will mean you only get 'Admin' messages from the moderators.
Why not adjust how often you get your emails from us?  Go to your 'Settings' and choose whether to receive emails for items immediately or whatever suits you. You can also elect whether to receive events and volunteering emails or newsletters or specific notifications of items of interest.

You can edit your membership by clicking on the "edit membership" link near the top left of the page, just above the thick bar with the group name in it.

The edit membership link is very small and usually pale blue, so you might need to hunt for it a bit.  The email selector is "Step 2. Message Delivery"  on the edit membership page.  If you prefer to change your settings by email. Please do not choose 'No Email' as we may need to contact everyone about major changes etc..

There will probably be a few days delay in any changes you make which is Yahoo catching up, please don't keep altering your membership too often as the delay could last longer.
You can change any of these settings as often as you like.

ADMIN: TOO MANY EMAILS?
Hello,
Our most common complaint is that members get Too Many Emails - so here's some help with that.
...to change your message delivery settings please click here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/[GROUP_NAME]/join
You will be able to choose between the following options
Individual Email
The option to choose if you want to get each group message and special
notice individually and immediately, as it is posted.
Daily Digest
The option to choose if you want to see all messages but limit the
amount of email you receive. We'll compile an email of up to 25
messages and send daily (special notices too!).
Special Notices - Receive only important email notices from the group
moderator.
Web Only - Please don't use this one as it means we cannot get special
announcements out to you - please choose Special Notices instead.
You'll still be able to read the list online.

logical option for members that want to give stuff away but aren't
really interested in reading what every one else has got to say, or
who have a yahoo account and are happy to just pop in and look at the
messages on the website.

To change your message delivery settings go to our home page:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/[GROUP_NAME]

Click on edit membership which is near the top in the middle, on
this new page scroll down to step 2: message delivery and the rest is
pretty obvious really.

If you don't have a yahoo account, or if navigating around yahoo
groups is a bit of a scary prospect then you can do this by email

you can change to Daily Digest by sending an email to :

or temporarily turn off all emails - for example when on holiday - using :

For individual messages just send an email to :

and normal service will be resumed.

or drop us a line at

[GROUP_NAME]-owner@yahoogroups.com

And we will be happy to do it for you!!

If you possibly can please go for SPECIAL NOTICES rather than NO EMAILS,
(although I know this isn't possible when changing settings via email).
Occasionally we like to send out long rambling admins a bit like this one.
Only, I'm not actually sending this as a special notice by virtue of the
fact that if you're on special notices then you don't need step by instructions
on how to change your message delivery settings do you?
