Freegle is the only UK-run network facilitating the free re-use of legal goods via locally run web groups. We are a massive grass roots initiative that is leading environmentally positive action across the UK. In less than 6 months, since it was decided to have a unique network for the UK, we have topped the 1 million member mark. We are flourishing with over 245 independent groups spread throughout Scotland, Wales, NI and England. The amount of goods that we ensure are reused rather than thrown away is also happily growing.

Freegling reduces landfill and incinerator fodder because Freegle members are Giving it away instead of throwing it away!

Freegle groups also foster community spirit, lessen mindless consumerism, assist the economically challenged, reduce the load on local councils and encourage a more sustainable lifestyle...all done locally by locals and all done for free.

Freegle members can save money, time, energy and the planet - at the same time!

We encourage individuals, families, businesses, charities, households and other organisations to join their local Freegle group and start offering up any unwanted items (that they have and don't want) to other members in their group. Or if there’s some item members are looking for then they can ask for it on their Freegle group too.

So whether it be a TV, empty moving boxes, clothing, sports equipment, DIY materials, a household full of furniture, some dishwasher tablets, office equipment, fresh squid or an old WWII shelter it is possible to give it away or get it for free via Freegle, instead of it going to waste at the tip or languishing unused.

Freegle is organised by about 400 volunteers who have all helped to democratically establish the only successful UK re-use network. They are all passionate about providing a free and easy way for people to give and get stuff in their own area. We have been working together tirelessly these past 5 months to improve our groups and to establish a fair and appropriate re-use network especially for the UK.
