Christmas

These are example Admin messages that might be good to send out early December.

The first one requires some extra data – or those sentences could be deleted.

The second was proposed nationally in 2023.

The third is an adaptation used in an inner-city setting where many residents may not celebrate Christmas, most people live in flats so do not have lofts, and overcrowding is more likely than spare rooms!

ADMIN: What I really want for Christmas

Dear all,

You are receiving this email because you are a member of $groupname.

Christmas is coming, and it's time to get the decorations down from the loft, check through the cutlery and crockery, and plan where Auntie Agnes is going to sleep this year. When you're up in the loft, if you find things you don't need any more, rather than just shoving them back up a box, why not offer them to someone else on Freegle?

After Christmas, if there are things that you've replaced, or even Christmas gifts that just don't quite hit the spot, please do offer them on Freegle rather than send them to the tip - they just might brighten up someone's New Year!

Thanks for supporting us at xxxx Freegle through 20xx – we've come a long way from the X messages posted in our first month in 20xx. The board now regularly sees xxxx messages each month and by our estimates we've kept nearly xxxx kg from landfill in just the last month! (equivalent to xxx grandfather clocks).

We have over xxxx members – but that means there's still over xxxx people in xxxx who have yet to start freegling - please spread the word. You can use the 'invite' button on Freegle Direct to invite all your friends and family to Freegle - there's an option to link them with their local community if they don't live nearby.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a great Freegling New Year,

$myname $groupname Volunteers

P.S. If you have any problems or questions just reply to this email.

Example 2

Celebrations are coming, and it's time to get the decorations down from the loft, check through the cutlery and crockery, make space in the fridge and freezer, and plan where Aunt Agatha and her cat are going to sleep this year.

Whilst you're up in the loft, if you find things you don't need any more, don’t put them back in a box and store them away again – offer them to someone else on Freegle.

If you’re clearing out the spare room for guests, freegle some of that stuff that has lurked there unused for the past year (or years).

Any unwanted toys? Other children would really appreciate them.

After the holiday, if there are things that you've replaced, or even gifts that just don't quite hit the spot, please do offer them to others rather than consigning them to the tip or storing them away ‘just in case’.

Spare food that you’ve bought but is still in date? Others would probably love to have it.

Any of the above could brighten up someone else’s holiday and New Year!

Happy holidays and thanks for all your support throughout the year. Your community, the environment and all of us at Freegle are so pleased you care.

Example 3

Some of us are celebrating Christmas, some just taking a break from our usual routines. You may be looking for your decorations, or making space for visitors.

While you're at it, if you find things you don't need any more, you could just put them back in a box and store them away again – or you might offer them to someone else on Freegle.

Any unwanted toys? Other children would really appreciate them.

After the holiday, if there are things that you've replaced, or even gifts that are just not right, please do offer them to others rather than consigning them to the tip (or storing them away ‘just in case’).

Spare food that you’ve bought but is still in date? Others would probably love to have it.

Any of the above could brighten up someone else’s holiday and New Year!
