Mentors currently have 9 members and 1 Board observer.

The Mentor team are:

Alison, Christian, Cooky, David, Diz, Jacqui and Jo. Sheila Little is the team coordinator Wanda is acting co-coordinator. Andy Ludlow is our Board observer.

Apologies for not sending a report last month to Central. It is a busy time for Mentors and we felt the report was the least important of our tasks that needed to be done.

Leon decided this month that he doesn’t have the time to commit to the mentor team at the moment so we are one mentor less.

Since early February, six groups have been handed to Mentors to run.

The owner of Leicester, Charnwood and SE Leicestershire groups passed away in 2014. The remaining moderator on the groups has been struggling to keep up with running the groups through poor health and finally decided the time had come to hand them over.

Ashfiield was given up by the owner who no longer wishes to run a Freegle group.

Rothfield and Desborough was handed over by the owner who decided he no longer wished to run it..

Kettering, mentors have been helping on for some time anyway, but the owner asked us to take the group on permanently and look for new owners.

We have helped two active mods who were on groups where the owner is absent to take their groups on as the permanent new owners using the abandoned group process.

They are NW Leicestershire and Bournemouth

Two groups went through the abandoned group procedure and have been taken into the care of caretakers. They are

New Forest East, New Forest West

Three groups that had a lot of messages being auto approved by modtools were chased up and two of them are now moderating regularly again .One is going through the abandoned process.

The Aylesbury group was disaffiliated after it was abandoned, and a new owner has already started a replacement group set up by mentors.

We have been following up with some groups after the contact procedure, where owners have asked for help with either moving or learning modtools.

We have been helping a lot of groups to move across to native hosting, in some cases helping the mods to get to grips with using Modtools for the first time. The recent time to move email has generated a good response. So far we are keeping up with group moves.

There are currently 43 groups listed on the caretaker list needing new owners and 10 that are being cared for temporarily. These include some groups currently being cared for by non-mentors.

Since the list began, permanent new owners have been found for another 42 groups.

We come again to the list of groups under the care of caretakers. If any mod teams local to any of these groups would like to take any of these groups on as permanent new owners, please contact us.
