Republishing

What's this for?
Almost all groups are set up so that only members can see the posts. That's the right setting - but it means that:
- People can't see what kinds of things are available on the group until they've gone to the effort of joining. Joining can be a pain, so that puts people off.
- Members often find there are too many mails, and switch to Daily Digest or Special Notices, and then become inactive.
Republishing allows your posts to be available in other ways:
- Via RSS.
- On Facebook
- Via Twitter (see Why Use Twitter?)
This allows us to have, for example, on Facebook:
- A Facebook Republisher, which you can put on a group page to show posts from the group and let people join.
- A Facebook Freegle Application, which members can use to do their freegling from Facebook.
See a quick video here:
Read more about these by clicking the links above.
How do I get it?
A list of groups with it enabled is here.
Does it break Yahoo's Terms of Service?
No. Posts are only republished when the sender has given permission by clicking on a link. We don't republish any posts before getting that confirmation.
Is there a FAQ?
Yes - Republishing FAQ.
Can I see it?
Yes - go to the Playground group.
How does it work?
See Republishing Implementation.
