ADMIN: MESSAGE MAKER and PLUG IN

Hello everyone.

We have gained quite a few new members recently so thought now would be a good time to let them know, (and remind long-standing members), that we can help you to make posting messages to the group quick and simple.

[GROUP NAME] has two message helpers which check a post for all the important bits BEFORE you send it off to the group.

If you've used Freegle, the chances are that at some point, you've had a moderator ask you to correct something in your mail - for example, you might have got the subject wrong; perhaps missed out your location.

You only find out about it though AFTER the group's moderating team return it to you. So now you have to correct it, then send it in again, and wait... again... until it is passed on to the messages page.

So wouldn't it be great if you could get the messages right in the first place?

The first of our message helpers is the Message Maker. It's a very simple and easy to use message form.

You can find a link to our Message Maker on our home page here:-

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/[GROUP_NAME]

In fact you can add the link to your favourites, or bookmarks, depending on which browser you use:-

The second of our message helpers is the Member's Plug-in. This is an add-on that you can download for either the Firefox web browser or for Internet Explorer. It changes the standard "Post" button that you see on the left hand side of our group's home page into a mini-messagemaker plus a few more goodies such as being able to keep track of your own recent posts.

Oh, and it's not that we are power mad control freaks or anything, honest. On busy groups, if a member posts a popular item but forgets to write their location they might quickly find 40 emails in their in-box asking "Where are you?"

Having a standard subject line (title) for all emails means that it is very quick and easy for all members to decide if they want to respond. They know if it's an OFFER or a WANTED, they know "what" it is, and they know "where" it is without having to open all the emails to find out. On busy groups that can save every member from having to open up hundreds or even thousands of emails per month - not to mention the fact (oh we already did) that they won't have to send you loads of emails asking for more information.

Your friendly [GROUP NAME] moderators.
