Polling Yahoo Members

If you are unsure about what you feel is best for your group ask them.
If you feel you are getting a lot of complaints on a particular subject again you can ask your members for their opinions.
To prevent heated debate, it is often best to use the Yahoo poll feature.
Types of stuff you may wish to poll on.
The type of items which have been polled by other groups have been: -
- The allowing of animals
- The crossposting rules
- The reposting rules
- Allowing/not allowing resellers on the group
- Giving charities special advantages
- Allowing firearms and weapons
Creating and formatting the poll.
You have to make the poll clear and try and keep questions to two choices of answer, this way there is no ambiguity in the results .
Click on the Polls in the list on the left of your home page.
- Click on create poll. insert screen shots
- Choose your question and the choices for answers. It is suggested that you break them up, for example for animals you can ask if they want them offered or wanted or both, you can bracket them in types eg. caged pets, dogs & cats, farm animals it you wish. The question can be tapered to how you would rather deal with the issue. If you want no animals at all then be inclusive.
Additional options
- Poll results & voter identity. Decide depending on your group and the questions.
- Close poll : If possible wait two weeks before closing to allow for holidays ect. Do it automatically so you don't have to remember.
- Poll results: Up to you but if you want to send an Admin with them choose the second option.
- Don't click on Create poll until you are sure it is correct. Emails will go out immediately to members and you can get voting going on, whilst still amending it.
