Invite a member
From Freegle Wiki
You can send invitations from a yahoo group to both email addresses and Yahoo IDs. This feature is very useful if you have a prospective member who is finding it difficult to join or someone who has been meaning to join but hasn't got round to it. When some groups hold events or do stalls they collect email address from interested people and send invites to them later.
To send an invite
- Click on the blue hyperlink 'invite' that you can find on the right hand column on any yahoo group home page.
- Type in (or cut and paste) the email address or the Yahoo! ID of the recipient into the box on this page.
- You can invite multiple people but start a new line for every address/iD.
- Finally click on the blue button 'Submit Invite' in the bottom right hand corner.
Adding a Member
There is also an Add Member feature on Yahoo! groups, to use this follow the hyperlink below the invite box. The process is similar to the invite feature, but you will need to sign in to your yahoo account to use it, and you will need to enter a code at the end. However 'added members' are email only members and will not have access to the web features of the group
NB: It is very important that you do not abuse your status as a Freegle moderator by sending unsolicited yahoo invites or adding members without their prior consent. This is both unethical and may damage Freegle's reputation.
