Here's how to set up your Facebook page. There are several steps:

  • Getting a facebook page see here
  • Enable republishing - see here
  • Add the republisher application to get the Posts tab
  • Make the Posts tab the default landing tab
  • Add a feed to your group description
  • Remove tabs you don't need.

Go [1] and click on Add to my page.

Select your page from the list:

Now click Close and go back to your page. You'll see the Posts tab, but it won't work yet. You need to enable your group.

If you don't see the Add to my page link, it might be because you've just created a Facebook id specifically for this group. Try making your personal id a Page Admin and see if that lets you do it.

Changing the default landing tab

By default, visitors to your page will land on your Wall. It's better if they land on the Posts tab.

  • Click on Edit Page
  • Change the Default landing tab
  • Click Save Changes

Configuring Your Group

Click onto your Wall, then click on Edit Page:

Scroll down to the Republisher application and click Go To Application:

This will take you to a page where you can enable the group for republishing and change the settings.  You will then get an e-mail to confirm the changes.  If you have a country setting enabled on your facebook page the URL won't fill in correctly on the page and the e-mail won't send, remove this for the e-mail to send.
.

Putting it on your homepage

If you're an Official group, you can get some code from Facebook to put into your home page description. See here for how to get it and here for an example. If you need to get the Official badge email geeks@ilovefreegle.org and give them your groups Yahoo URL.

Removing tabs you don't need

You don't really need the Photos or Discussion tabs. Click on them, then click on the pen icon to delete them:
